Order of the Lone Star

The Lone Star chapter "Order of the Lone Star" is a very honored award.  It is issued only to those who have demonstrated an "above and beyond" attitude and work ethic to promote and preserve the history of the great State of Texas.  The honor can only be given to SRT members that meet qualifications.  A maximum of two can be issued per year and only by majority vote from the board of the Lone Star Chapter, after proper nomination.

The award is a hand-made, high quality medallion and comes with a custom neck ribbon.  It is delivered in a beautiful custom, hand made wood box, worthy to hold the medal. The award also comes with a certificate and an induction letter certifying the honor.

To nominate an SRT member, please email us at LoneStar@lonestarsrt.org.

Since the beginning of time when the Almighty reached out and created the planets above, stars have always mesmerized mankind.  They have come to symbolize many things as time passed.  People wondered at them, began to "gaze" at them, and have always held them in a mystic way.   In more modern times, they began to symbolize freedom and liberty, as was reflected in the stars added to the American Flag in the 1770's.

Dr. Charles Bellinger Stewart was the first "de-facto" Secretary of State for the young Republic of Texas.  He assisted in penning the Texas Declaration of Independence and signed the document first.  Dr. Stewart had a single star button that had been rumored to have come off his own clothes, handed down through the years within his family.  Several years later, when asked by the President of the Republic of Texas to come up with a design, Dr. Stewart used this "Lone Star" to create the Seal of the great Republic and assisted in designing the current "Lone Star" flag.

Just as Dr. Stewart found this button with a star on it to be a symbol of Freedom and Liberty, standing alone it represented something more... Independence.

Today, it is much more than a star.  It is the basis that a new Republic was built on and lives as "large as life" in symbolizing the history of the only State in the nation to have been its own, independent country.

May God bless and protect Texas until time is no more.
