A Message from our President
I have always had a passion for history and for Texas. To be in the fellowship that has stated goals to protect the heritage and history of the Republic of Texas is where I belong. We are always in a struggle to improve and expand our society for the betterment and security of our people. however, while we advance our goals, some people lose sight of the foundation that our society us built on and the principals that hold us together. By maintaining our historical sites and keeping our written history accurate, we can always know what our real heritage is so that we can maintain our principles while we build a better world.
My goals for our group are: 1. To support the preservation of Republic of Texas historic buildings, historic sites in Montgomery and Walker counties, and the historic boundaries of the Republic of Texas. 2. To promote the history of the republic of Texas, both in the educational system and the media. 3. To make these activities enjoyable to our members and all who join with us in these efforts. We are fortunate that our ancestors made the sacrifices to hang on to this land that is between two worlds that we call Texas. I think we owe it to them to make an extra effort to honor them and I will do my best to lead this group in that direction for the next few months. FOR GOD AND STATE! David Martin, President |
